Requirements & Eligibility

Getting Social Security Benefits

You must understand what constitutes social security benefit eligibility. The requirements for SSDI and SSI are particular. With our representation, we’ll ensure you understand each of these elements and where you stand.

For SSDI, “work credits” will help you qualify. This is what you’ve accumulated before you became disabled. Work credits are based on your earnings and correspond to a certain amount of wages earned or hours worked. To be eligible for SSDI benefits, you have to have accumulated a total of 40 credits. Twenty must have been accumulated in the ten years following your application date. It would help if you also had a disability or are of body or mind that inhibits you from working

Your income level makes you eligible for SSI (not work credits). To qualify, you must be disable and have an income below a certain amount known as the federal benefit rate (FBR). Calculating the FBR is complicated and requires a thorough understanding of the law. Though this is very complex, Attorney at Law Arthur Leslie is here to assist you through the process, guiding you through each step.
